The EMYT 2010 Cast performed Lost & Found on Saturday 14th August at the Bishop Greaves Theatre, Lincoln, at 7.30pm.

The EMYT Year

February/March - Auditions

Our auditions team will tour the East Midlands in February holding auditions for places on our summer projects. The auditions consist of a two hour workshop providing you with an excellent opportunity to show us your skills.

April - Offers Made

After the audition process we send out letters offering you a place on a summer project. We will always let you know if you have been successful or not or whether you have been placed on the reserve list. Once you have accepted your place you can sit back and look forward to the summer!

August - The Project!

All our projects take place in the summer holidays. The fully residential week projects give you the opportunity to spend a week away from home with like minded and talented young people from across the region. The invaluable experience of working to professional standards with a professional artistic team will make the week an unforgettable experience. Each project is different and you will be given plenty of information about the project before you start.

What People Say About Us

Tom Chambers

Holby City, winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2008

“Youth theatre groups are a prized possession. For the audience, the occasion can either save us from our daily routine or simply make us smile. Whichever it is for you, it is a healthy use of time for both those on and off stage. The performer can inspire and at the same time find self-belief from the challenge.

Had I not been given the opportunity to do youth theatre, my outlook would be very different. I found purpose and possibility. On stage there is a team and no boundaries.

The East Midlands Youth Theatre (EMYT) course will give young people the tools for expression and understanding, and the knowledge that interpretation is unique to the individual. Youth theatre creates. It opens minds and sells encouragement.”

Kelly Adams

Hustle, ex-Holby City

“In Theatres I only ever seem to see money spinning schemes. Fat cat production companies employing bum on seat stars who can command £50.00 a ticket in the West End. What I'm trying to say is, this industry is incredibly important but very difficult to get in to and succeed in.

EMYT's course is exactly the sort of positive step towards inspiring tomorrow's actors. They should know that acting is something they can do for a living, and not just dream about. It isn't about The X Factor and quick fame but about working hard at their craft and telling amazing stories

I would have done whatever it took to audition for this course had it been around when I was at school. The idea of working with young people who I didn't know and a "real life" director would have excited me beyond belief

This course will give the young people of the East Midlands an opportunity to get a taste of what I think is the most challenging and thrilling business in the world”

Mrs Wilson

“I wanted to thank you for taking care of, and inspiring my daughter, during the week of EMYT. My daughter has never enjoyed anything she has ever done, anywhere near as much as she did the week of EMYT. She stated that all the staff were fantastic and that she was able to learn so much from the wealth of expereince at EMYT.

This experience is definitely one which will remain with her for life, so I would therefore like to pass on my thanks to all involved”

Rebecca Young

“Being part of the EMYT cast allowed me to improve my skills and has made me stronger in all aspects of performance. I would love to experience it all over again”

Hannah Hall

“EMYT was a wonderful experience and one that I will never forget. It pushed me to extremes both physically and mentally with the lovely fitness bootcamp and the many songs I had to learn. However, this was all part of the process to making a fantastic performance, I met amazing people and I finally got to play a villain, which is always fun! Thank you EMYT!”

Ellie Hull

“The week taught me a variety of skills required to work as a professional in the theatre, and demonstrated the high expectations that need to be met. Taking part in the EMYT course made me realise what it would really be like to pursue theatre as a career. I’ve made a lot of new friends and I am definitely going to audition next year!”
