East Midlands
Youth Theatre
The EMYT residential theatre course starts at 10am on Monday 9th August and finishes after the final performance on the evening of Saturday 14th August 2010. This is a unique opportunity to work with a top director and fabulous artistic team in creating a brand new piece of theatre. There will be 30 young people on the course and 6 members of staff who will be resident for the week. As the week progresses the cast will gradually create and rehearse a new piece of theatre under the direction of a top artistic team. This new piece of theatre will be performed to the public on the last evening.
Where will the course take place?
The course take place at Bishop Grosseteste University College where excellent accommodation, good food and great rehearsal spaces are provided. The entire cast and artistic team will have great fun during the week working with other talented young people from all over the East Midlands.
What will I be doing each day?
If you are on the Summer Theatre Course you will be very busy every day. After a good breakfast you will start your day with a warm-up. The day is then split into three sessions. Morning, afternoon and evening. In these sessions you will be devising and rehearsing in preparation for the final performance. Depending on what the Director has in mind, you may focus on a variety of theatre styles and techniques.
How much does the course cost?
The course costs £450 and includes all accomodation, food, course fees and EMYT t-shirt.
I’m not sure I can afford the course fee. Should I still apply?
Absolutely! If you are offered a place on the course we will send a fundraising pack to you with great ideas for raising your course fee. The pack will also include suggestions of foundations and organisations to apply to for funding for your course fee. We will support anyone who may have problems raising the money to pay for their course fee as much as we can.
"I wanted to thank you for taking care of, and inspiring my duaghter, during the week of EMYT. My daughter has never enjoyed anything she has ever done, anywhere near as much as she did the week of EMYT. She stated that all the staff were fantastic and that she was able to learn so much from the wealth of expereince at EMYT. This experience is definately one which will remain with her for life, so I would therefore like to pass on my thanks to all involved" Mrs Wilson - Nottinghamshire
